Knoxville's Same-Day Junk Removal

I started with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? back in 2004 as a truck team member, supporting myself while working toward a career in firefighting. From day one, I genuinely enjoyed the work, the camaraderie, the fast pace, and the chance to help people in a tangible way. Throughout my entire journey, even as I pursued my firefighting goals, I stayed with 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, balancing my time between school and work. I was working and attending school full time, eventually earning my EMT certification, and graduating from the fire academy.

It was a busy and rewarding time, and I felt proud to be part of both worlds. I eventually took on a part-time firefighter position and interned at another fire station, while still working for 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. Over the years, I had a few conversations with Tom, the owner of the franchise, about ownership opportunities. When I gave Tom three months’ notice so I could start paramedic school, he surprised me with an offer to buy the Sonoma franchise. 

Becoming a firefighter was a goal I was very passionate about, and I’d worked hard to pursue it. But deep down, I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit from selling toys and running lemonade stands as a kid to starting a car detailing business as a teenager, so the idea of owning and growing a business felt right. Tom was patient and understanding, and after careful thought, I decided to take the leap into business ownership.

I still look back fondly on my time in the fire service, but I’m thankful for the opportunities 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has given me. From the start, I’ve loved the culture, the people, and the customers we serve. Becoming an owner has given me the freedom to be truly present for my family. I’m grateful to Tom for his belief in me and for the chance to help others grow into leadership roles.

With the recent acquisition of the Knoxville franchise, I’m excited to give two young men who have helped grow my business, Matthew and Aiden, the same opportunity I was fortunate enough to have: equity in the Knoxville franchise. Matt has been with us for 10 years and in that time has held almost every position in the franchise. He has grown tremendously as a professional and has helped us reach new heights. His biggest asset to the business is his leadership. Aiden has been with us for 5 years and quickly rose into a leadership role. He is performance-oriented and does a great job of setting a high standard and helping others achieve it. I’m incredibly proud of both of them and thrilled to support their growth into business ownership.
