Hi, I’m Roy Sanders, General Manager of the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Chicago Metro franchise. You’ve probably seen our shiny blue trucks driving all around town – around Willis Tower and Wrigley Field, along the Chicago River and out by the Zoo. We’re everywhere!
At 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, we’re different in our professional approach to junk and trash removal. We work anytime, anyplace and we will take almost anything you’ve got. Most often, people ask us to take furniture, clothing, office equipment, ewaste, wood, drywall, books, paper, garbage, metal items (and scrap metal). I really enjoy helping people reclaim their spaces from all the junk they’ve been holding on to – it’s an amazing feeling.
People call us most often when they need help with estate clean outs or if they’re moving in Chicago and area. We also do a lot of work for property managers, cleaning up after tenants when they move out of an apartment building, and have experience working with hoarders. We also work quite a bit or commercial hauling, when a company closes an office or store, or opens a new location, or changes a window display. Any time a business is looking for an alternative to dumpster rentals, they call us.
We have an opportunity in the junk business to help our planet by diverting the junk we collect and keep it out of the landfill, in Chicago we consistently divert over 95% of all junk removed from the landfill.

Mark Bischoff has been a resident of the northern Chicago suburbs for 20 years and has lived in the Green Oaks/Libertyville area for 16 of those years. Mark is an Executive with a Fortune 500 company based in the Chicago area.
Mark became the Franchise Partner of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Chicago North in 2006, having purchased a franchise after completing a major spring cleaning effort himself and subsequently learning about the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? service.
“Had I only known about the service at that time it would have saved me a lot of effort and aggravation.”
Mark is proud of his involvement with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and the exemplary service it provides to the communities in which we serve.
In June of 2004, Ryan and Lori McSpadden opened their 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Naperville, IL with a business partner and his wife. Through a lot of hard work and determination, the company grew into a half a million dollar franchise with a total of 10-12 employees.
Around the same time, in September 2004, Sam and Gail Schick were going through the same process. They had both left their corporate jobs to open a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Franchise in Orland Park, IL. In a similar story, they started out with just one employee and grew the business to over a half a million dollars in revenue by 2008.
After 4 years, the McSpadden’s business partner decided to leave the business, which left them with a unique opportunity—to merge their franchise with another nearby franchise. In January 2009, the McSpaddens and Schicks merged their franchises to form a new franchise called 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Chicago Southwest.
Today, the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Chicago Southwest franchise is the third largest in the world, second in the US, in the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? system. Independently, each franchise started with one or two employees and one or two trucks. Now, they have close to 100 employees, 23 trucks, eight fleet vehicles, three offices, and a plan to double the business again by 2020. Sam, Ryan and Gail are still working in the franchise today and are passionate about continuing to grow their business.
They’re all about making the process of junk removal easy for customers. They love being the ones to do all the loading and lifting, so all you have to do is point! The franchise is proud to say that they are able to recycle 40-60% of the junk they collect. They work with several charity organizations in the area, especially Goodwill, and recycle paper, cardboard, metal and other semi-precious metals on top of that. It's always a great feeling to reuse items that, prior to junk removal, may have just gone into a dumpster and then off to a landfill. They are the junk removal experts in Chicago, helping people regain their space back and they look forward to helping you!

Chicago West's junk removal crew has participate in the Wheaton Fourth of July parade. The guys have a wonderful time being a part of this event. We get the opportunity of giving candy away to the community. It is a great event to be a part of.
Star 105.5 has an outdoor garage sale every year in the fall. We have participated in the removal and cleanup of left behind items such as: refrigerators, desks, electronics, and garbage. After the event was all cleaned up, we drove the items to a local boys scout troop. We unloaded and donated the items that would benefit them into a garage.
One of Illinois North Central's truck team members didn't know what they were in for when they showed up on a job where a gentleman opened up the garage door and said that he would like all these boxes to be removed. The truck team member opened a box, and to his amazement, it was full of fossils. In all the boxes were old fossils that this gentleman saved and collected. It happened to be two truckloads full of fossils. The fossils were than donated to area schools and to a local museum.
Chicago's 1-800-GOT-JUNK team were called out one day to pickup a Mayor McCheese play set. The truck team handled it with no problem and drove away with a large hamburger in the back of the junk truck.
Our truck team was dispatched to a job where a couch was left outside on a property. After loading it on the truck, they heard a buzzing sound from within the couch and the fabric appeared to be moving up and down. Their suspicions were confirmed when stray bees started wandering out from under the couch!
We have a fun culture at 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. Chicago Northwest's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? don't just stand on the side of the street and wave they do everything from throwing the football to sitting on a couch to pretending they're in a band. When the Bears were in the Super Bowl last year they rented a Grizzly bear outfit and squeezed a Bears jersey over it and wandered around Elmhurst with a sign - This attracted quite a few stares!!!
Gerry Cote's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team got their biggest assignment in a home cleanout when they arrived at a home that was filled floor to ceiling and wall to wall with junk. We literally dug our way from room to room in order to complete this assignment. Total truckloads for a two bedroom home with a basement = twenty three.
Much of the "junk" that we pick up is recycled and donated. Our exclusive transfer station takes all of our construction debris, and recycles it. 90% of all of the metal items we collect are taken to metal recyclers. We donate items to local schools, Goodwill Industries, and various second hand stores that generate funds for Outreach. We are local residents working to give back to the community.
We have a great relationship with many of the local donation centers. Twice is Nice Resale Shop in Carol Stream has been a grateful recipient of much of the ""junk"" that we remove and they have seen record numbers for 2007 as a result of our partnership. Twice is Nice Resale Shop is owned and operated by College Church in Wheaton but all the proceeds are generously donated to the Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? "The world's largest junk removal service", and The ReUseIt Center, a not for profit company benefitting the Mid-Valley Neighborhood Improvement Association, Inc., combine their teams together to make a difference in the community.
In 2006 and 2007 Chicago West's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise assisted Baird and Warner Real Estate on their annual "Make A Difference Day" campaign. We donated clothes racks to their Naperville office for a clothes drive. We transported food items collected by their Wheaton office to the Illinois Food Bank and we collected and delivered construction items organized by their St. Charles office to the ReUseIt Center in Batavia.
