Ever look around your home and feel overwhelmed by piles of stuff you no longer need? You're not alone! At 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, we're here to make that feeling—and your junk—disappear. We offer full-service junk removal that's super easy and stress-free.

Why do people need junk removal?

There are a variety of reasons why people need help with getting rid of junk. Many customers just need a hand with getting rid of one or two larger items when they’re replacing things like furniture or appliances. We also help a lot of people when they’re moving—it’s pretty common for people to clear out junk before moving day, but we often get calls when people are in the middle of moving day, and even after they’ve moved in. We can also help with storage locker cleanouts, post-renovation cleanup, and general decluttering (similar to spring cleaning).

How junk removal is often priced

Every company is different and has its own methods for determining prices. Some common junk removal pricing methods include by weight of the items, price per item, truck volume, and some charge flat rates per pickup.

We price by volume

Our junk removal pricing is based on volume, or how much space your items take up in our truck. Think of it like this: the more junk you have, the more truck space you'll need. Our smallest load is ⅛ of a truck, all the way up to a full truck. With volume-based pricing, you only pay for the space you actually use. We also offer single-item pricing for certain items, such as small appliances, sofas, mattresses, and more.

Average prices for junk removal

Junk removal prices can vary a bit from city to city, due to factors like the size and weight of items (large items may require additional equipment or teams to move them) and local variations in recycling rates, dump costs, transportation costs, and more. Here are some average ranges to give you an idea:

  • Small Loads: typically range from $107-$396 (Minimum - ¼ of a truck). This could be equivalent in volume to up to two standard sized fridges e.g. two to four items of furniture.
  • Medium Loads: usually fall between $396-$600 (¼ - ½ a truck). This could be a small clear-out, like a few boxes, small furniture and a broken appliance.
  • Large Loads: expect to pay around $600-$1099 (½ - a full truck). This might include a full garage clean-out or old furniture from multiple rooms.

No surprises here! We’ll always give you the exact price before we start, and if it's not right for you, no problem—we'll be on our way.

How to get an upfront price

Since it's challenging to provide an accurate quote solely from pictures, we offer upfront pricing through free, no-obligation estimates at your home. Our team will arrive at your home, take a look at your items in person, and then give you an upfront price before they start removing anything. When you accept the price, our team will remove the items right away—there’s no need to reschedule a follow-up appointment.

Nope! Our team handles all the heavy lifting. Just point, and we'll carefully take the items away without damaging your home.

Yes, we are fully licensed and insured! We have insurance covering damages to both persons and property for every single booking.

Absolutely! We always aim to be as environmentally responsible as possible, following local regulations. We do our best to keep items out of the landfill by donating and recycling as much as we can, working with local partners like Big Brothers and Salvation Army.

Yes, some companies do charge extra for bulky or heavy items, but it depends on a few factors. For companies that charge by weight, you can expect to pay more for heavier items that are included in your load. Most junk removal companies charge by volume, which means that larger items will take up more space, but the overall weight of an item isn’t likely to impact the price.

However, some additional factors could result in paying extra for bulky or heavy items, such as increased disposal fees for certain items (appliances, electronics, tires, mattresses, etc.) or additional labor fees for extra crew members or jobs that take longer due to difficult-to-access areas.

1-800-GOT-JUNK? charges by volume, so you’ll pay for the space your items take up in the truck. Any additional disposal fees (which are based on local regulations) will be included in the price.

Some junk removal companies charge extra for certain items that require special handling or disposal. These can include:

  • Mattresses and box springs: Often have a recycling fee.
  • Electronics (e.g., TVs, computers): May have an "e-waste" or environmental fee due to hazardous materials.
  • Appliances (e.g., refrigerators, freezers): A surcharge for proper disposal of refrigerants like Freon is common.
  • Tires: Usually have a per-tire recycling fee.
  • Hazardous waste: Items like paint, chemicals, or certain batteries can be subject to significant surcharges or may not be accepted at all.

You may also be charged more if your items are located in an area that is difficult to access, requires navigating several flights of stairs, needs to be carried a long distance to the truck, requires disassembly of items before they can be removed, or the job takes much longer than expected.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? gives upfront price estimates before the work happens—any additional disposal fees will be included in the initial estimate, so there are no surprises!

We don’t currently offer exact price quotes on our website. This is because we charge by volume, and to provide an accurate price, our teams need to look at your items in person. (It can be hard to estimate the volume of junk from a photo.) We offer free in-person estimates, and they’re no-obligation, which means you can say no at any time and we’ll be on our way.

Yes! We offer free, in-person estimates, which means the team will give you a full price quote on the spot. The price is all-inclusive, so all the lifting, loading, cleanup, and any disposal fees are included in the price.

Tipping is not required for junk removal services, but if you feel like the team did a great job, you’re always welcome to give them a tip! It’s always appreciated, but not expected.

Absolutely! We work on your schedule, so we can be there whenever you need us. Most of our locations offer same-day service, so we’re able to accommodate last-minute pickups.

Most of the time, this information can be found on the company’s website. Or, you can always just give them a call and ask if they’re licensed and insured. If you need further proof, a good company will happily show you a copy of their business license and their Certificate of Insurance (COI), which proves they have active general liability and workers' compensation policies.

At 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, all our locations are licensed and insured, so you never have to worry!

While renting a dumpster can be a good option for some situations, it isn’t the easiest or most convenient option. You’ll need to make sure you have a space to park the dumpster while you fill it up—if you don’t have a large yard or driveway that can accommodate it, you may need to get a special permit to keep it on the street. You’ll also have to do all the heavy lifting on your own—that means lots of trips carrying heavy items outside!

When you use a service like 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, you don’t have to worry about any of that! Our teams do all the work for you—just show us what you need to get rid of, and we’ll take care of the rest. Our trucks can hold a lot, so we can easily accommodate larger loads too.

Eco-friendly junk removal services are generally not more expensive than traditional ones, and they might even save you money. Both types of companies usually price their services based on the volume or weight of your junk. Eco-friendly companies like 1-800-GOT-JUNK? invest extra time and effort into sorting items for recycling and donation; this approach can reduce the amount of junk sent to a landfill. By donating usable items, you can often lower your final bill, as the fee is tied to the volume of waste that needs disposal. Therefore, an eco-friendly approach not only benefits the environment but can also be financially competitive.

We make junk disappear.
