The simple way to clear out old backyard play structures

Swing sets and play structures are great while they last, but eventually, they become an eyesore or a safety hazard. Getting rid of them yourself is tricky; most curbside services won't touch bulky items like trampolines or pools, leaving you to manage the transport and disposal on your own.

Thankfully, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is here to handle the entire process. Whether you’re clearing space for a new project or the kids have simply outgrown the equipment, we provide a fast, full-service solution to get that old structure out of your way.

Frequently asked questions

How can I disassemble a trampoline?

If your trampoline is still in good shape, you can try donating it so that someone else can enjoy it. Otherwise, you can look at having it recycled. Either way, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? can take care of it for you. Our trampoline removal service makes it easy to get that trampoline out of your way for good. We’ll take care of everything—we’ll take the trampoline apart, load it up into our truck, tidy up the area before we leave, and then make sure your trampoline gets donated or recycled where possible.

If you wish to take on the task by yourself, you’ll need to dismantle it before you can move it. If the trampoline can’t be reused, you’ll need to check with your local recycling depot first to ensure they are able to accept the components of your trampoline. Keep in mind that you may not be able to leave it out for curbside pickup, in which case you’ll need to transport it to the depot yourself. It can be a lot of work, which is why it’s best to hire professionals to take care of it for you.

How can I dismantle a playhouse?

Before you attempt to take your playhouse apart on your own, consider the amount of time and effort it will take. You’ll need to have the right tools, and will probably need some extra hands—it’s a big job and isn’t something you should do on your own. If you want to save yourself the hassle, let 1-800-GOT-JUNK? do the heavy lifting for you!

We can dismantle the playhouse for you, then load it up into our truck, tidy up the area, then haul it away and ensure everything gets donated or recycled where possible. You won’t have to lift a finger!

If you want to try it on your own, you need to make sure you have all the right tools: a wrench, hammer, pliers, screwdriver, and anything else you think you might need.

You’ll need to remove the swings, the slide, the monkey bars and anything else that is used to swing, slide or climb. Once these are removed, you can get to work on taking apart the structure itself. When it’s completely apart, you’ll need to load it into a vehicle and transport it to a recycling facility or landfill. Be sure to check with the facility first to ensure they are able to accept the components of your playset.

How do I take down an above ground pool?

If you’re looking to get rid of your above ground pool, it can take a lot of time and a lot of work and is definitely not something you can do without an extra set of hands. Markel and Will came out and were amazing! They helped get rid of some hard stuff that we had trouble moving. They were super friendly and very professional and we would love for them to come back and help again when we need to get rid of some more junk in the future.

Antonio and Kevin were great to work with! They came out on a cold snowy evening and were so professional and kind! They were quick and hauled away items from our basement and other yard items. We were calling places to compare prices and they were the most responsive and fair company!
