By Tom Rypma

Hi, my name is Tom Rypma and I’m the local Franchise owner for 1-800-GOT-JUNK? throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. I started my franchise in November of 2000 after recognizing the need for a professional Junk Removal Service in San Francisco and Marin County. The amounts of junk we were removing surpassed our capacity so I was joined in April of 2001 by business partner and friend Bronic Gold.

We quickly added more trucks and expanded our business to service everyone from Sonoma County, Marin County, San Francisco, San Mateo County, Alameda County and Contra Costa County. Today we operate a fleet of 23 junk trucks and have completed over 75,000 individual junk removal jobs. As part of the local community we decided early on – even before it was vogue – to make environmental responsibility part of our business practice. Since inception we have recycled, donated and salvaged over 20,000 tons of “Junk”.

Today 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in the San Francisco Region boasts a recycle, salvage and donation rate of over 80%. Junk Removal - Sonoma
More Details

Hi, my name is James Harvey, and I’m the Franchise Partner for 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Sonoma.

1-800-GOT-JUNK? is proud to be the world’s best provider of junk removal in Sonoma and area, including: Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Windsor, Sonoma, Sonoma Coast, and the Russia River Area.

I started my career at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to pay my way through college. When the opportunity came up to own a franchise, I had to get involved. I love this company, the brand, and all it stands for.

1-800-GOT-JUNK? is not your average junk removal service in Sonoma – we take customer service extremely seriously, and strive to turn the ordinary business of junk removal into an extraordinary service. We do this every day through our highly trained call centre, based in Vancouver, Canada, to our friendly uniformed truck team members, who will take anything non-toxic that two people can lift.

We make people’s lives better every day by helping them reclaim their space, and ensuring that whatever you  have that you want gone gets disposed of properly and safely. Most often, people hire us after they’ve moved, when they’re doing fall or spring cleaning, when the kids move out of the house, when they’re having an estate sale, or after an eviction (for property managers).

We’re especially proud of our same-day service (which means you can call us or book your junk removal online, and we can be there the very same day to take your junk away).

1-800-GOT-JUNK? Sonoma is also dedicated to the environment. We only use transfer stations, charities, and recycling centres for disposal of the junk we collect. None of your items will go to a dump or landfill. If an item we pick up is in good enough condition to be reused, we donate it to a local charity, such as Sutter Hospice Thrift. If an item is recyclable - and many are - we ensure it is dropped off at the proper recycling facility so that it is disposed of properly.

When I’m not running the business, I’m spending time enjoying the outdoors going surfing, hiking, camping, backpacking, motorcycling, and so on. There is no better place to get outside than Sonoma County, after all.

I can’t wait to help you reclaim your space.  Give us a call today, or book your junk removal online to save $10!

More Details

Hi I’m Bronic Gold, your local franchise owner for 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal in the Bay Area. We opened our franchise on the Peninsula in July of 2000 and have been removing junk across the Silicon Valley ever since.

My wife and I moved to San Mateo from Canada to start our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise. By Drew Boyles

Hi, I’m Drew Boyles, owner of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? serving your junk removal needs in the Greater East Bay area. In 2004, after recovering from a start-up, I stumbled on a Fortune Magazine article about 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Anxious to get back into another entrepreneurial endeavor, I jumped at the opportunity.

As a 20 year resident of El Segundo and avid surfer, the coast is home to me. Since 2004, I have acquired 22 other franchise locations and operate across Southern California, Chicagoland, Greater Sacramento, Greater Santa Cruz and Monterey areas. I have been in everything from aerospace in the military, the bowling alley business, the coffee business, dry cleaning, management consulting and now junk! Without a doubt, I am having the most fun of my career in the junk business.

We have received government recognition with 12 letters of commendation from civic leaders including Governor Schwarzenegger, California Senator Jenny Oropeza, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, Congresswoman Jane Harman, to name a few.

In 2012 alone, we recycled and repurposed 5,171,952 pounds of junk! We are the largest single contributor to, a non-profit dedicated to repurposing and recycling to the benefit of the local communities and are weekly contributors to Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill and other charitable organizations.

Recently, I've opened up a new moving company in Los Angeles and Orange County called You Move Me. We're excited to bring the same level of service you've come to expect from 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to the moving business through this sister company.

When I am not working on a new project, I surf, ski and snowboard as much as possible, in between coaching my two little kids’ AYSO Region 92 soccer teams.
