Quebec Waste Reduction Week
La Collecte Verte is an environmental initiative of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Québec, the world’s largest junk removal service. In support of Québec Waste Reduction Week, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? will collect broken and unused electrical and electronic devices and dispose of them in an environmentally friendly manner. This can be your old computer, television or stereo equipment. Since first edition of the event, we have diverted and recycled more than 233,5 tons of material that could have potentially been land-filled.
For this Fall's Quebec Waste Reduction Week, 1-800-GOT-JUNK presents the 10th edition of La Collecte Verte. On Sunday October 19th between 10 and 3, bring your old TVs, computers, stereos,
printers, faxes, scanners, and telephones to be recycled at participating Bureau en Gros locations in the Montreal region. Join 1-800-GOT-JUNK in making your Fall clean up green by participating in this year’s Collecte Verte event Visit collecteverte.ca for more details.
Staying organized for moving day
Most Quebecers move on July 1st, and are spend the month of June getting in to shape for the big day. We know a thing or two about staying organized and clutter free at 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, so here are our top tips if you’re moving in Montreal this July:
- Get rid of your junk before you move – you’ll be surprised at how many people move their old junk into their new homes thinking they’ll get rid of it after the fact. It so much easier to get rid of it first, and can save you hours of packing and moving time if you’re not packing up items you no longer need.
- Hire professional, insured, movers to help you move – moving items without breaking them (or damaging your home) is not easy. People hire us because we’re professional movers (and removers!) of junk. If you’d hire a professional to move your junk, why wouldn’t you hire one to move your prized possessions? Make sure you ask your moving company for proof that they are insured, as well as proof of CSST coverage before you hire them. You could be liable if an uninsured mover gets hurt on your property, so protect yourself!
- Use re-usable plastic boxes or bins when moving – not only can these be rented, they can be reused. At 1-800-GOT-JUNK? we’re always looking for ways to reduce garbage and waste, and moving can create a lot of garbage if you don’t plan in advance to do it in an eco-friendly way.

1-800-GOT-JUNK? lends a hand
Montreal's1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchises had the privilege of taking part in a project to equip young hockey players in Nunavik with much needed second-hand equipment. The program was led by a group of students from Lower Canada College and Selwyn House schools. It involved five local Montreal schools gathering used equipment. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? volunteered their trucks to do the pick ups from the schools and to transport the equipment to a place to get it cleaned. Helping a Family in Need
Montreal Ouest's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise were able to furnish an apartment with items from a junk job for a single mother and her three children. The family had just arrived from Haiti and were thrilled to receive a complete living room set, TV with stand, microwave, dishes, side tables, and beds for the children. They previously had been sleeping on the floor.
Cleaning up after Montreal's National Homeshow
It is with great pride that 1-800-GOT-JUNK? established a partnership with Expo Media Inc. at the Montreal National Home Show, held at Place Bonaventure. The primary goal of our joint effort was to assist over 500 exhibitors to dispose of their floor displays in a responsible and environmentally concious fashion. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is not just about junk removal, it’s about the environment. In previous years, these displays were taken to the dump. This year, thanks to 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Franchise Partners, for the first time more than 60% of the 40-50 tons of debris were either recycled or disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. In addition, the promoters of the event were most impressed by the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team’s professionalism and efficiency. An outstanding mission accomplished!
