Hi, I'm Ben Hoskins and I own the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? San Diego North Franchise. In 2002 I left a job in the technology industry to open the first 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Southern California. When I started the business, I mainly focused in the city of San Diego in areas like La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Hills/Hillcrest, Downtown, University City and Clairemont. In 2004 our General Manager Rick Romano joined the team and helped expand our presence on the North Coast, including Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar, Mira Mesa and Rancho Pesquitos. He lives in Encinitas and coaches his daughter's softball teams. This explains why, if you have daughters who play softball in Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solano Beach, or Cardiff, you come across so many teams sponsored by 1-800-GOT-JUNK?.
In addition to customer service, our main focus with training staff is emphasizing donation and recycling; customers love knowing their stuff doesn't end up in the landfill.
Our junk removal franchise services Escondido, San Marcos and Vista but we operate out of several locations. We also have a facility in Pacific Beach on Thomas Ave. 92109 right off of Garnett. You'll see our trucks near Santa Fe Dr. and Evergreen Dr. in Cardiff near our storage for the North County. You may also see us off of Camino Del Sur in Rancho Bernardo, where we consolidate items to give to charity.

Hello, my name is Chris Savoia, and I’m the Franchise Partner of the San Diego South 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise. Growing up I never thought I would haul junk for a living, but now after nearly five years I can’t imagine doing anything else. The sense of satisfaction one gets from helping people get rid of something that has been plaguing them for years is incredible. Every day we get to meet great people from the College Area to North Park who appreciate what we do and the professionalism we display when we do it. It is very gratifying to take the entire side of a family’s yard that had been held hostage by a rusty shed and its dusty contents and free up that space for barbeques and swing sets. It has been almost a year since the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchises in San Diego South and San Diego East joined. The new franchise allows us to cover San Diego County from as far southwest as Imperial Beach, home of the sand castle competition, to as far east as beautiful Alpine. This means some mornings we start our day in Coronado and end in the Helix Hills. Climbing in attics, breaking down sheds and cutting up Jacuzzis is all part of what we do and these activities do not cost our customers any additional fees. We do a lot of work for commercial customers, including banks and real estate companies. We always do a full clean up with a sweep of the entire property. Our satisfaction comes not only from helping people and simplifying their lives but also from doing the right thing. We are enrolled in California’s Electronic Waste disposal program, which has allowed us to be an official collector of electronic waste for nearly five years. We are officially sanctioned by the state to legally collect TVs, computer monitors, computers, CPUs, laptops and even items like stereos, fax machines, printers. Whether we are helping a young family in Eastlake, college students near SDSU or a couple who is downsizing from San Carlos, we always enjoy what we do. Hi, I'm Darren Tavitian, the local owner and operator for the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? San Diego Northeast franchise servicing Escondido, San Marcos, Vista and Valley Center. I started working at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in 2004 for the Greater Los Angeles franchise which serves most of the South Bay area.  I started this career assuming it would be temporary, but instead worked my way up to General Manager of one of the Top 20 franchises, and in May 2007 bought the San Diego Northeast franchise.
The 1-800-GOT-JUNK? mantra we operate by is "It's all about the people," and that's exactly how we operate our business. At 1-800-GOT-JUNK? we treat every customer as if they are our only customer and ensure we meet all their junk removal needs. We thrive on challenges, like the 21-truckload job we completed in a single day. We diverted over 40% of the materials we picked up that day from the landfill. We were able to achieve this through our strong relationships with the Salvation Army, and the city’s recycling centers. 

This junk hauling business is also an amazing way to help our local communities. We are active members of the Vista Chamber of Commerce, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and Escondido Chamber of Commerce. We have partnered with E-World Recyclers and have sponsored free electronic waste drop-off days, from which we donated half the net proceeds to local education foundations such as Escondido Education Foundation, and are currently working with the San Marcos Education Foundation. We have also helped residents that were victims of the fires in the San Diego North County area. We delivered food, clothes and materials.

Roughly 60% of the junk that we pick up is donated or recycled. Some of the places 1-800-GOT-JUNK? uses to recycle and donate items are Quality Recycling, Ecology Metal, Lee’s Recycling, Salvation Army, Father Joe's and E-World Recycling. We are certified as an electronic waste collector in the state of California, which means we can pick up items such as computers, tv's, stereos, fax machines, CRT's  and assorted other electronics. These items are taken to an electronic recycler, ensuring that they are recycled properly and don't end up in a landfill.

You may notice our trucks, or one our our energetic marketing tactics. We do our signature group waves in the morning at the entrance to the 15 South and E Valley Pkwy in Escondido. If you are out at lunch time and around North County Fair, you might find us at the corner of Bear Valley Pkwy and Beethoven wearing our blue wigs, dancing around, and having a ball. Our clean and shiny junk trucks can be seen cruising around town or at their homes on Sycamore and the 78 Freeway, Hacienda and Melrose, Valley View Plaza, San Elijo Hills, Twin Oaks or the 15 Freeway and Bernardo Ave, to name a few.

Hi, we are Bill Cox and Eileen Butler-Cox, the owners of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in north west San Diego County. Both of us are veterans of the U.S. Air Force and have been residents of Oceanside for more than 20 years. We are proud to say that our entire family, including our three sons, helped get our business started.

It has been great working with the cities we service. Since 2003, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has worked directly with the City of Oceanside by participating in all of its quarterly river clean ups which are now coordinated with the efforts of I Love a Clean San Diego and, when requested to do so, report to the city all our figures on diverted materials to help Oceanside meet its state landfill diversion requirements.

In Fallbrook, we have been one of the integral parts in the success of the annual Fallbrook Green and Clean event. Our major role for the past two years with the Fallbrook Green and Clean has been to collect e-waste. We also donate our trucks and crews to support the efforts of volunteer organizations that clean areas affected by illegal dumping. In Poway and the Scripps Ranch area, we were the first commercial vehicles allowed into the Cedar fire areas. When all was said and done, we moved over 20,000 sand bags and over 1,500 volunteers into the area. These are just small samples of how we give back to the communities we service.

In 2003, we received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Oceanside Women’s Resource Center. In 2007, the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside awarded us with a Distinguished Service award for our service to the club and the community.
