Hi, I'm Drew Trautman and I own the local 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal franchise in North Jersey. Our junk hauling operation covers a large portion of north Jersey – including Morris, Union, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Warren and Sussex counties!
After working for the corporate headquarters of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? for three years as a Field Advisor, I decided to take the plunge and purchase a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise. New Jersey was an ideal fit for me and the business so I moved to Berkeley Heights in 2005 and we opened our doors in March of 2007! Since our launch we've been actively trying to get our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? name out to the local community. You may have seen our trucks in our parking spots in Livingston, Florham Park, Morristown, Westfield, Scotch Plains, Union, Hoboken, East Hanover, West Caldwell, Morristown, Teaneck and Summit. You may have also seen us with our blue wigs on doing what we call 'waves’!
We are passionate about giving back to the community and have partnered with Second Chance Toys to rescue and reuse gently used plastic toys. We also donate to organizations such as Furniture Assist, the Salvation Army and Goodwill to recycle good used furniture, books and clothes. It is important to us to not just remove your junk and give you your space back, but also to dispose of everything appropriately and recycle as much as possible.
We are committed to our customers and to the environment and look forward to showing you why we are your best solution to that pile of stuff you've always wanted to get rid of!
Our office is located in Secaucus and we pick up junk and do home and office cleanouts (and cleanups) all over North Jersey. Let us help you regain your space, help clean up your home for sale, clean up your office, take away that old appliance in your basement, get rid of those boxes in the attic, take away that yard waste in the back yard – really anything you want to remove from your property, we can help!
We also have a sister company called You Move Me. You move me is a local moving company in New Jersey that aims to bring the same level of customer service to the moving industry that you've come to expect from 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. Check out your new favorite local movers in New Jersey, and give us a call today! We'd be happy to move you (after hauling away all of your junk, of course!).
Hi, I'm Doug Martin and I've been part of the New Jersey 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team for two years. Prior to joining this junk removal business, I spent the better part of 20 years in the magazine publishing industry. I was attracted to the power of the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? brand and the company's commitment to excellence. I enjoy being part of this junk hauling operation with a Fortune 100 marketing focus and plan.
You may see our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks or members of our team in bright blue wigs waving from the side of the road in Marlboro, Manalapan, Princeton Junction, Red Bank, Middletown and all across Central New Jersey. If you see us waving, we hope you'll give us a “honk”!
An important part of our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? mission is to support the efforts of the many organizations devoted to helping the less fortunate in our areas.
Our team participates as a group in the March of Dimes walks and The Race for the Cure. We donate many gently used items people discard to organizations such as: Homefront, The Trenton Mission, a Touch of Love, The Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and The Humane Society. We are always looking to connect with local organizations that assist the needy in our area, so if you think we might be able to help your group or organization, please let us know.
Living in the most heavily populated state in the country, we understand the importance and need to recycle. Our goal is to donate or recycle everything we can. We recycle computers, cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, concrete, rock, asphalt, tile, clean wood. One of the very unique things that attracted me to 1-800-GOT-JUNK? was its commitment to recycling. Not just of the regular stuff like metal and paper, but the recycling of gently used items to those in need all around us.
There is no greater feeling than the one that comes when you are able to make the life of another a little better. That's what 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is all about. It makes getting out of bed and heading to work something that I look forward to every day.

Hi, I'm James Barrett, your local owner and operator of the Somerset (Central New Jersey) 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise. Our junk removal franchise was the first of two to open in New Jersey in the summer of 2006. We are located in New Brunswick and are privileged to serve customers' junk removal needs from Basking Ridge – south to Princeton & Lawrenceville. Early on, we developed a lasting partnership with the Rutgers University Office of Student Employment. We are fortunate to have several Rutgers students working for us currently and in the past. Our office also partners with nearby Raritan Valley Community College for potential team members.
From the start, our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise has been active members in the Franklin Township Chamber of Commerce and recently joined the state Chamber of Commerce. We perennially sponsor local little league and women's softball teams who often participate in local charity events throughout the year. You may have heard our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? commercials on the local radio station WCTC 1450 AM. In April of '07 we cleaned out quite a number of basements, as people were scrambling to “bail out” from the “100 year rain” that engulfed central Jersey. We provide our customers with a convenient and simple way to remove their junk and get organized!

Hi my name is Matthew McLaughlin and I have been the General Manager for the New Jersey South 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise for little over a year. I am responsible for junk removal service in seven counties starting with Burlington, going down to Salem, and all counties in between. We’ve done jobs for major sport stars to different government agencies. We also helped out the Salvation Army, March of Dimes, and a couple different schools and churches. We donate to many different charitable organizations, consisting of the Goodwill, Red, White, and Blue in Voorhees, and the Single Fathers of Camden that was featured on Extreme Home Makeover. We also recycle all our metal, paper, cardboard, and rocks when possible. I am personally a member of the Cherry Hill Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Burlington Camden County Association of Realtors.
I love this job more than any other position that I have held. It’s different everyday. We could be moving the most exquisite paintings from a beautiful house in Moorestown to picking up a freezer made in 1950 from some 3rd floor apartment. It is that element of the unknown that makes my job and life exciting. It definitely beats stocking green beans on a daily basis! What makes things even better for me is that I am a huge sports fan and we have already done jobs for an Eagles pro-bowler and a major football analyst. Everyday is an adventure with 1-800-GOT-JUNK?!
On April 12th & 13th, 2014 the New Jersey 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchises hosted their 1st Toy Drive with 2nd Chance Toys. In total we collect 750 toys that were distributed via 2nd Chance Toys all over New Jersey.
Above: General Manager Adam Wachter, Veteran Junker Jon Anderson with Steve Weatherford punter for the NY Giants, and the Mayor Quintana of Newark helping donate gently used plastic toys to children at the Harmony house in New Jersey.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? New Jersey North East picked up gently used plastic toys from various locations in Northern New Jersey from students at Evergreen Elementary School in Scotch Plains. The students had teamed up with Second Chance Toys to donate hundreds of their own used toys to families in need over the holidays.
We were all too happy to help, and delivered two full truckloads of used toys to the Harmony House, a transitional housing program that helps families move from homelessness to permanent housing.
1-800-GOT-JUNK?’s very own Drew Trautman was recently interviewed on ABC. They wanted to get his Junk hauling expertise on several topics, including hoarding. Drew’s New Jersey junk removal team has been featured on the TV show, Hoarders, and finds themselves on the job for someone who hoards every couple of weeks.
When approaching a hoard, Drew says that he does an estimate ahead of time to make sure the customer is comfortable with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? (Drew finds that most customers are because our guys are trained on how to deal empathetically with those battling with hoarding).
In extreme hoarding cases, Drew suggests that a professional organizer or therapist be brought in to help. Watch the video to find all of Drew’s tips on working with people who hoard and clearing out clutter in general.
