In the DC Metro area since 2003, we have 4 franchises that operate junk removal in Washington, DC and the Maryland and Virginia suburbs. When you include the rest of the Mid-Atlantic (Baltimore to Richmond, Eastern Shore to Charlottesville), the number grows to 16 franchises. That's over 50 blue 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk trucks waving at you around town and collecting unwanted junk!
1-800-GOT-JUNK? revolutionized the hauling industry from mostly 2-guys-and-a-pickup-truck into a fast-growing, branded service segment with uniforms, call centers and behind-the-scenes technology. We deliver exceptional service to our customers and are creating the leading, most recognizable brand in an industry that had never before been the focus of such professionalism.
We take away large items that are too big to throw away in your regular trash like furniture, appliances, exercise machines, carpet and recyclable materials like computers, electronics, scrap metal and cardboard. We remove construction and renovation materials (think old toilets, sinks, and cabinets), swing sets, old tools and sports equipment. We go all the way into your house - into your attic, basement, or garage - and take the junk. You don't need to lift a finger. Watch what we do.
As long as the junk is non-hazardous and two people can lift it, we can take it. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? specializes in socially-responsible and safe removal of all materials. We make every effort to recycle or reuse as much of the collected waste as possible. We work with local charities and recycling centers for cardboard, metal, plastic, computers across the DC Metro area. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? is on the forefront of bio-diesel testing for our truck fleet and actively modifying the way we do business to lead the industry in eco-friendly methods.

Hi I'm Mark Rubin, and I opened the first 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in the DC Metro area in 2003.
I think the Washington DC Market is fascinating for junk removal because of some of the interesting and exciting places that call on our services. From ousted members of Congress (so many possibilities!) to Embassy cleanouts to jobs at prestigious Universities, cultural landmarks and Government institutions, Washington DC is full of junk...and the treasures amongst it.
I was named "Rookie of the Year" after breaking many revenue and performance records and tripled the size of my junk hauling fleet in just 12 months of business. You can read about our adventures in starting a junk hauling business in the local Potomac paper: One Man's Junk is Another's Franchise. Over the past 5 years I have developed systems to improve the service response time and overall productivity of the junk removal business to make my Washington DC operation the #1 franchise partner in the U.S. continuously since 2004.
I have served on the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Franchise Advisory Committee in 2004 - 2005 representing more than 100 franchise partners needs across in North America. I joined Entrepreneur's Organization in 2004 and served as a case study for business students at George Washington University in 2007.
Before joining 1-800-GOT-JUNK? I worked overseas as a consultant for Andersen Consulting, then rode the dot-com wave in San Francisco during the height of the internet boom. I returned to my home state of Maryland to open 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in 2003. I also co-own 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal in Brooklyn and Queens, NY.

Hi, I'm Davinder Sehmi and I own the Washington DC East franchise of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? We have 3 trucks servicing customers in Downtown DC, Capitol Hill, College Park, Landover and Glendale. I got started in the junk removal business after I saw one of those shiny, blue 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks on my way home from work one day. The name was so easy to remember and it made such an impression on me that when I got home I searched online for information on the company to see what they were all about - and I was hooked. That was 5 years ago and it was the best decision I have made in my life so far. Now I park my trucks in College Park, where I graduated from the University of Maryland. I was born, raised, and went to school in the DC Metro area and am very proud to own a business in my hometown. The weirdest DC junk we have been asked to remove was a live alligator - weirder still was that one of my drivers took the alligator home as his new pet. If you are moving, doing renovations, have construction debris, or just need to get rid of that old couch and dispose of appliances in Downtown DC please give us a call, we'll help with all your DC junk removal needs.

Hi, I'm Rick Galliher and I own the local junk removal franchise serving most of Northern Virginia. As a kid, I would ride my bike across town to the local dump just for fun - years later this job is still a natural fit. My family and I have lived in Fairfax County for 15 years. I started my junk hauling business in 2003 with one truck, and have grown to a seven day a week operation, with six trucks, and over 13,000 junk removal jobs to date. Most of my employees have been with us for three years or more – it’s a great job!
Prior to hauling junk, I worked in heavy/highway construction, working on the Dulles Toll Road, Dulles Airport and the Herndon Park and Ride projects among others. We haul household junk, appliances, hot tubs, swing sets and all kinds of furniture - from a single couch to multiple truckloads. We tear down sheds too. If you are downsizing or clearing out an estate or a foreclosure, we can handle that. We also haul away junk for commercial clients, residential property managers, office buildings (including tearing down cubicles, large copiers and computer equipment and displays), storage units, and dumpster areas. Almost half of our work is completed within 24 hours of booking an appointment. Many jobs can be completed on the same day, handy to know if you are closing on your home with junk still in the basement! Estimates are always free - just phone our 24/7 Call Center to schedule an estimate. We always follow up on every job with a phone call to ensure you are happy I brag that my franchise scores an 87 on our Net Promoter Score Index; scores over 75 are considered quite high, or world class service. The Net Promoter Score is a way of measuring client satisfaction; each of our clients are asked “ On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely are you to recommend our services to others?” People who rank us a 9 or 10 are “promoters”, 7 and 8 are “neutrals”, 6 and below are “detractors”. There is no better service than 1-800-GOT-JUNK?
