Before owning my own junk hauling business I spent 15 years in corporate marketing working with large brands such as Molson, Hershey and McDonalds. As a consultant, I met Brian Scudamore, the founder of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, and joined his team at our head office in Vancouver working in sales with national, strategic partners. When I celebrated my 40th birthday I was the oldest person in the head office. With a young family at home I was ready to set out on my own and welcomed the opportunity to buy a Vancouver franchise. We are proud to offer professional service and rapid response times, we arrive on time and we get the job done quickly. This level of service helped us with an 8 truckload job in Richmond, where a vacated Synagogue had become an illegal dumping ground. After our first day removing junk we arrived the next morning to find even more junk had been dumped over night. We quickly ramped up our teams and managed to clean out all of the remaining junk in one day. The weirdest junk we've removed was in West Vancouver. We recycled 7 truckloads of books from a book collector, everything from outdated maps to National Geographic's from 1931! After my first year running the corporate franchise I knew I wanted to become more involved with this incredible company. After another year and a half of persistence and hard work, the president & CEO of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, Brian Scudamore, helped me realize my dream of owning a franchise and allowed me to purchase the Downtown Vancouver Territory from him. In August 2006, I became the 247th franchise partner with 1-800-GOT-JUNK? In Vancouver the community focus on recycling is growing tremendously, not only for individual households but also companies of small and large sizes. Because we have invested in proper training for my truck team members, recycling and donations are now a huge part of their day to day work. I am extremely proud of the efforts and work put forth by my truck teams who consistently go that extra mile to make sure the junk we collect is properly recycled and/or donated.

Everyday, we spend from an hour to several hours separating and recycling items like cardboard, paper, electronics and e-waste, metal, drywall, and hundreds of other items that can be salvaged and donated.
