My name is Jocelyn Durling. My husband Geoff and I are the Franchise Partners for 1-800-GOT-JUNK? South Bay located in San Jose, California. We service the entire South Bay including San Jose, Santa Clara, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Campbell, Willow Glen, Evergreen, Alum Rock, Milpitas, Fremont, and Newark. We have been operating in the South Bay since 2003. Before moving to San Jose, we operated the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Oakland, California where we remain partners in the franchise.
Prior to getting involved in the junk removal business, I was a business and marketing consultant in the financial services industry. Having grown up with entrepreneurial parents, my goal was always to own my own business and the junk business intrigued me. We started when the franchising of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? was still in its infancy. We were aware there was risk getting involved in a business that hadn’t quite proven itself yet, but we were confident in its potential. There is an abundance of junk out there, and most people don’t have the means to get rid of it themselves. We saw how we could help people, and make a living doing just that. Working in this junk hauling business and living in California has given me a whole new appreciation for the environment and how crucial it is to take care of it. We recycle, donate, or reuse up to 70% of what we pick up. Anything that can be recycled is. We have partnered with the Tri-City Homeless Coalition (www.tricityhomeless.org) which assists homeless people in finding secure housing in the tri city areas of Fremont, Union City and Newark. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? South Bay donates all usable household items to help furnish homes for the homeless. We are also certified e-waste junk removers and make sure that any e-waste we pick up goes to certified recyclers in the South Bay to be disposed of properly.
