I retired from the Air Force as a Major General but during my career I flew bombers, was a test pilot for the B-1 and B-2 bombers, and commander of a squadron (about 200 people), a wing (about 4500 people), and the Air Force Research Laboratory before retiring (about 9000 people). Peggy is also an Air Force veteran and military spouse. Before joining 1-800-GOT-JUNK? she owned and managed an upscale consignment shop in Ohio.
Spend enough time completing your due diligence…pay specific attention to the territories and their demographics. You have to be convinced that there will be a sufficient customer base for your success. Also, make sure you talk to several franchise partners about their experience and contact or call several of the ex-franchise partners listed in the FDD.

The first half of my life was unbelievably successful--not only did I realize my childhood dream of being an Air Force test pilot but also achieved the rank of a general officer. As a test pilot my duty was to operate and evaluate high tech aircraft systems. Now, in the second half of life, I find myself at the opposite end of the technology spectrum and making a second career out of "junk". However, the opportunity to achieve success in something completely different and new will be incredibly rewarding.
