Hi, I'm Troy White. My wife, Rachelle, and I opened our Tampa 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise back in March of 2005. Prior to starting our junk removal business, I was a medical sales representative selling laboratory diagnostic equipment - quite a jump from delicate, laboratory analyzers to piles of junk! My wife works part-time as a medical technologist, part-time on this business and full-time raising our two wonderful boys. We have come a long way in those three short years. Initially, we operated from a home office, had one 1-800-GOT-JUNK? truck and one employee. We currently have an office in Tampa, four 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks and twelve employees! Over the last three years, we have completed almost 4,000 jobs. Hopefully, you have seen one of our shiny, blue 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks cruising around town or experienced one of our trademark "blue wig waves". Our team has a lot of fun and takes pride in what we do.

The best part of owning this business is the opportunity we have to help out the community. It has allowed us to give back to the community in a way we never dreamed of. Many of the items we pick up get donated through Salvation Army, Goodwill and Habitat For Humanity.

We also strive to be a green company and recycle whenever possible. We recycle electronics, metals, plastic, glass, cardboard, paper, and more. We appreciate that this community has welcomed our business and we try and give back any way we can. We have been active in various charity programs to help Hillsborough County and Pinellas County Schools, Hillsborough County Neighborhood Associations, Youths Empowered to Achieve, Keep Hillsborough and Pinellas County Beautiful and Attention Home for abused children. We also stay active in many business networking groups - Carrollwood Area Business Association, Tampa Bay Builders Association and Suncoast Real Estate Investors Association, to name a few.

Hi, I’m Kirk Hall, your local 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise owner and operator. In 2006, I left a career in sales with a company that I had worked with for over 20 years. It was time for change, but who knew I would turn to a life in junk removal? My wife and I decided that we wanted to go into business for ourselves and so the search began. In January of 2007 we purchased four 1-800-GOT-JUNK? territories in Central Florida and two brand new 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks! We haul junk from Lakeland, Mulberry, Bartow, Davenport, Winter Haven, Celebration, and Kissimmee, just to name a few areas.

When we started, we immediately became members of the Chamber of Commerce, attending monthly meetings. It constantly amazes us what people will get rid of. One of our main focuses is recycling. We try to recycle, salvage and donate to local charities as much as possible. What we can't recycle ourselves, we drop off at Goodwill or The Missing Children’s Thrift Shop. I can't begin to tell you how many college apartments we have helped furnish and we are always ready to help out a family in need.

Our office is at 124 W. Christina Blvd. Lakeland, Fl. It's located in S. Lakeland off of S. Florida Ave. and across the street from Home Depot!

"Their Job is Junk"

We had a St. Pete Times reporter ride with us for a day of junk pickup in the New Tampa area. She was able to experience, first hand, what a typical day in the life of a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk remover was all about. Some of the "trash" our junk removal team reported picking up included almost-new sofas, plasma TVs, mattresses, and dressers. Around 60 percent of our "junk" gets donated to women's shelters and other charities; the rest is hauled to the dump. Sometimes the junk hauler himself keeps the items.

The Rubbish Removal Boys

This Tampa Bay Times reporter traveled with our Tampa North 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk pickup crew to see what our waste removal service was all about. Our junk removers gave her an eyeful - from removing an upright piano on the second floor, to carpets, to concrete blocks, to miscellaneous junk, to the smell of the Pinellas County landfill in the morning.

In the Community

Red Ribbon Run Event

We did junk removal for the Red Ribbon Run and Drug Awareness Event

This past year we were lucky enough to be involved with the Red Ribbon Run and Drug Awareness Event. Every school throughout the county participated in the day long activities, which included races, a carnival, music, food and fun. You can imagine all the garbage left behind with over 1,000 students, parents, teachers and families participating. There was plenty of junk removal to do! We volunteered to help with the massive junk pickup job. Outfitted in our blue wigs we handed out brochures, gave away toy 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks and mingled with the masses. Our junk removers were able to help out the community and introduce the families to our new 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trash removal franchise.

Free Junk Removal For Children

We were able to provide help to a local non-profit group called Attention Home. They are a home that takes in severely abused children and provides them with a loving, caring environment. They recently moved to a beautiful location in Odessa where the previous owners had left a lot of junk laying around the property. With the help of other Tampa-area 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk hauling franchises, we were able to remove all unwanted waste and debris (wood, yard debris, trailers, pipes, etc.) free of charge.

Helping Tampa Youth

We have worked closely with a fantastic non-profit group in Tampa called Youths Empowered to Achieve. YEA! aims to facilitate the development of entrepreneurial attributes among the young people of Tampa who are at risk of becoming a part of the cycle of poverty which is prevalent here. We have helped them by doing community junk removals (due to illegal dumping) in this underprivileged area of Tampa and also helped them with obtaining and transporting supplies for their program.

Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tourney

The Tampa-area trash removal franchises participated and sponsored the Sidesplitters Comedy Club Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament in Tampa. We had a great time at the tournament, but more importantly, the proceeds went to a great cause. We even won the award for the group with "The Best Sense of Humor"! The fact that we wore the trademark 1-800-GOT-JUNK? blue wigs for the first nine holes in the sweltering heat might have had something to do with that. Watching a junk hauler try and tee off with a blue afro wig is pretty comical.
