Ben Hoskins
Territory: Junk Removal - San Diego North
Address:
Hi, I'm Ben Hoskins and I own the San Diego North Franchise of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Five years ago, I left a job in the technology industry to open the first 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Southern California. My wife and I moved from Sacramento so I could start the business and she could attend graduate school at San Diego State. When I started the business, I mainly focused in the city of San Diego in areas like La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Hills/Hillcrest, Downtown, University City and Clairemont. In 2004 our General Manager Rick Romano joined the team and helped expand our presence on the North Coast. He lives in Encinitas and coaches his daughter's softball teams. This explains why, if you have daughters who play softball in Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solano Beach, or Cardiff, you come across so many teams sponsored by 1-800-GOT-JUNK? In 2005, Jose Andino moved from the San Francisco franchise to become our Area Manager for the rest of our territory of Del Mar, Carmel Valley, Mira Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos and Rancho Bernardo. In addition to customer service, our managers main focus with training staff is emphasizing donation and recycling; customers love knowing their stuff doesn't end up in the landfill.
I'm also a partner in the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise which services Escondido, San Marcos and Vista. I also served on 1-800-GOT-JUNK?s Franchise Advisory Committee, representing the 300 Franchise Partners from 2005-2008. From a single 1-800-GOT-JUNK? truck in 2003, we now have seven 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks, almost 10,000 customers served and we continue to grow!
We operate out of several facilities. Our main office is in National City, right off Interstate 5. We also have a facility in Pacific Beach at 2121 Thomas Ave. 92109 right off of Grand Ave. You'll see our trucks near Santa Fe Dr. and Evergreen Dr. in Cardiff By The Sea, CA near our storage for the North County. You may also see us off of Camino Del Sur 92127, where we consolidate items to give to charity.

Christopher Savoia
Territory: Junk Removal - San Diego South
Address:
Hi, my name is Chris Savoia and I’m your local owner and operator of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal in San Diego South. We began our junk hauling operation in late 2004. Since that time, we have completed over 2,500 junk removal jobs in the South Bay of San Diego. Our territory covers as far north as the College Area, eastward to Spring Valley (including Lemon Grove), as far south as Otay Mesa, San Ysidro and Imperial Beach and as far west as Coronado. We are also very active in Chula Vista, North Park and Bonita.
Prior to hauling junk, I was a high school teacher in the San Diego City Schools District. After five years as a teacher, I left to work for a small educational software company that was based in San Diego. I'll never forget the excitement I felt when I first started looking into becoming a franchise partner for 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. My family and I had just moved to Chula Vista from central San Diego and we really wanted to work where we lived so we could be involved in the community. When we discovered that South San Diego was still available for a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise we were ecstatic! I really enjoy owning our junk removal business in this community. We have been fortunate enough in the past to be able to sponsor softball and baseball teams, participate in the Costco Children's Miracle Network event, contribute to the Chula Vista Police Department's Baker to Vegas Run and donate fairly regularly to Deseret Industries.
One of our proudest moments happened this January when we were honored by the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce with a Service Award.
We have two offices that we work out of in San Diego South. We have meetings, store some e-waste and do administrative activities at our industrial facility at 131 W. 33rd Street in National City. This is located just north of the 54 near the 5. It's right around the corner from the brand new Sweetwater Harley shop. Also, our office is very convenient for In-N-Out runs for lunch. Being so close to Chula Vista also allows us to run down to Broadway to get our trucks worked on between hauling jobs. Our second office is more of a home base at: 1601 View Park Way in Chula Vista, 91913. This location is between Otay Ranch High School and the new Mater Dei campus in Otay Ranch.

I’ve been open since February 2006, providing junk removal services to Alpine, El Cajon, La Mesa, Rancho San Diego, Allied Gardens, Del Cerro, and San Carlos areas of San Diego. Many of our customers see us daily along Navajo Road, Jamacha Road and Via Mercado near I94, having fun while doing waves. Some days you may see some of our crew members jogging up Cowles Mountain, a favorite local hiking trail. Our favorite meeting locations include Starbuck's throughout the area, especially the Fletcher Hills location at the corner of Fletcher Parkway and Navajo Road. Come join us for a coffee one morning or just say "hi" if you notice our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? has taken me to the next level of being able to manage, operate and be successful in owning my own business. My background is in education, having started, developed and directed several charter schools in San Diego County. My most recent endeavor includes purchasing Christa McAuliffe Academy and Achieve Online, a K-12 online school, serving students in Washington State and throughout the world, including China. I'm amazed at how many teachers and educators in the San Diego/La Mesa area have used our junk removal service! With the connection to education, our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise has partnered with a local elementary school, Green Elementary, to help keep Green green! We are holding our first annual e-waste event with Green Elementary and look forward to making additional connections with schools and districts to help recycle old computers, monitors and TV's.
Our office is located near Del Cerro in Allied Gardens at the intersection of Waring Road and Zion in the Albertson's shopping Center. The address is 5173 Waring Road, # 139, San diego, CA 92120

Our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team loves to give back and help out the community. Roughly 60% of the junk that we take gets donated or recycled. Bill Cox & Eileen Butler-Cox
Territory: Junk Removal - Oceanside
Address:
Hi, we are Bill Cox and Eileen Butler-Cox, the owners of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in north west San Diego County. Both of us are veterans of the U.S. Air Force and have been residents of Oceanside for more than 20 years. We are proud to say that our entire family, including our three sons, helped get our business started.
It has been great working with the cities we service. Since 2003, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has worked directly with the City of Oceanside by participating in all of its quarterly river clean ups which are now coordinated with the efforts of I Love a Clean San Diego and, when requested to do so, report to the city all our figures on diverted materials to help Oceanside meet its state landfill diversion requirements. In Fallbrook, we have been one of the integral parts in the success of the annual Fallbrook Green and Clean event. Our major role for the past two years with the Fallbrook Green and Clean has been to collect e-waste. We also donate our trucks and crews to support the efforts of volunteer organizations that clean areas affected by illegal dumping. In Poway and the Scripps Ranch area, we were the first commercial vehicles allowed into the Cedar fire areas. When all was said and done, we moved over 20,000 sand bags and over 1,500 volunteers into the area. These are just small samples of how we give back to the communities we service.
In 2003, we received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Oceanside Women’s Resource Center. In 2007, the Kiwanis Club of Oceanside awarded us with a Distinguished Service award for our service to the club and the community.
All this would not be possible without your support. I would like to thank every one of you who have used our service. I hope we have wowed you with our professionalism and commitment to this business.

"Dear Chris Savoia/1-800-GOT-JUNK?, I wanted to take this time to offer my sincere thanks for the job you did for me and my clients in Spring Valley. I was in the process of putting my clients home up for sale and recommended a swift clean-up around the house. My clients had a limited amount of money to spend for cosmetic work. After getting a bid from a competitor for $1800 to pick up a load of junk, we decided to call 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. You came over and gave us a bid for $442-$504 to do the same job! We booked the job for the next day and were pleased with the results especially with the final price of $442! You saved my clients over $1300 and did a fantastic job to boot. I will refer you to every one I know looking to hire someone to haul away junk. Thank you again."-- Donna, Agent
"Hi Chris: I was extremely pleased with the service that your company provided. From my initial phone call requesting the service through final completion, everything was perfect. The extra touch of a cup of coffee for me at the early morning appointment was above and beyond! I will always recommend 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to my clients and certainly will not use anyone else for my trash hauling needs."-- Barbara, Agent
"1-800-GOT-JUNK? was fantastic! They fit almost a full garage of junk into their truck. They took the time to organize the truck in order to maximize space. Both Roger and Kaitlyn were friendly, efficient and professional."-- Chris, La Mesa, Jan. 2007
"Thanks! You guys were awesome. They came and got all the junk. I will highly recommend your company to everyone I know. Thanks!"-- Cristina
"This is the second time we've used your service ... Please accept our appreciation for their work and attitude. Each time we've dealt with you, I've been impressed with the young men doing the work. Upbeat, pleasant, with a sense of humor. These guys were a pleasure to have come by and get rid of the junk that's been in the way and just annoying us. As I said, we've dealt with you before, we're sure we will again--probably early next year--and we've recommended you to at least a couple people. But the key is your staff--the people who are the contact with the people using you--and these guys were great."-- Patrick, Vista, Nov. 2007
"It has been such a pleasure dealing with you and your company. Everyone I have dealt with has been friendly and helpful and you make sure things get taken care of quickly. I work with vendors every day and I wish they could all be as helpful and responsive. We will definitely be calling you in the future, we get lots of junk dumped at the industrial properties we manage and no else will take. Thank you!!"-- Lindsay, Property Manager
"1-800-GOT-JUNK? did a great job. You guys have the best service! Christopher Geis is a great franchise partner, an excellent manager. His team cleared my yard of 9 truck loads of green waste in a matter of two days!"-- Ed, El Cajon, Mar. 2007
"They guys show up on time and in a professional manner. They rock and can you help me again tomorrow."-- Jennifer, Manager
"What a treat to work with you the past two days with our pressing matter. We could not have had a win-win situation without yours and Rick's help. Happy holidays to you and your wonderful team."-- Lisa, Property Manager

"1-800-GOT-JUNK? did a fantastic job. John Mathews is a excellent employee. He got the job done!"-- Mary, El Cajon, Mar. 2008
Who said a career in junk removal can't be profitable? We landed front page in the business section of the San Diego Union-Tribune after only two months in the junk hauling business. This really helped kick start the 1-800-GOT-JUNK? San Diego trash removal franchise! Read about how we've done every kind of trash pickup, from warehouse cleanouts to simple couch pickups. Up to 60% of our "junk" is taken to recycling centers or charity.
Our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise was featured in the San Diego Business Journal's Entrepreneur Profile. Read about how owner Ben Hoskins started his junk removal service as a one-truck, one-man junk pickup operation. Over a period of four years, he grew it to a business of seven trash removal trucks and nine junk removers. Hoskins says, "My parents finally realized what a great career choice I had made!"
What type of weird junk do you have? Does it measure up to some of the weirdest junk 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has taken away in its junk removals? How about 19 truckloads of ice cream?! This article is so bizarre it got picked up on a wire service where franchise owner Ben Hoskins ended up doing radio interviews about weird junk pickups with stations as far away as St. Louis, Chicago, and Montreal!
Looking for a job? Read this article to find out why so many college students want to haul junk at 1-800-GOT-JUNK? You can also check our job postings board - we're always looking for more junk removers system-wide!
San Diego South's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? have done trash removals at the former El Camino Hotel, where HBO's "John From Cincinnati" was shot. The current owners were very nice and did not want to have to deal with removing the almost four truckloads of junk we took out of there. The strangest of the junk removals from the hotel was a cement deer that had been poured into the ground and set with rebar.
When San Diego Northeast junk removers Adam Daly and Brent Jameson (BJ) were out on the junk trucks a couple of weeks ago, they heard a crash. They looked down the street and saw that a police SUV had flipped over near the highway onramp 50 yards ahead. The crew immediately pulled over and BJ approached the accident scene — he is a certified first responder, which means he has training in CPR , basic first aid, and crisis control. "I have never had to use any of the training and I was very nervous," BJ said. "From a distance, the officer did not appear to be moving. But, as I approached, he proved to be conscious and responsive." The officer had surface lacerations and neck and back pain. Another man who was also a certified first responder, had his first-aid kit out and BJ helped him treat the officer’s wound. Rescue services arrived shortly thereafter and took over. Kudos to BJ and Adam!
Ben Hoskins (owner of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trash removal services in north San Diego) and his wife were married at the Thursday Club in the Ocean Beach neighborhood of San Diego. It only made sense to drive away in a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk hauling truck!
