1-800-GOT-JUNK? got its start in Vancouver, when university student Brian Scudamore encountered a tight summer job market in Vancouver and started a junk removal service called The Rubbish Boys.

We are Grant & Alison Belbin, the local owners of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? on Central Vancouver Island. We purchased the franchise in July 2008 – the realization of a dream to work together while combining our backgrounds in Marketing/Public Relations (Alison), Construction/Demolition (Grant). We relocated our family from the Interior to beautiful Nanaimo and hit the ground running, meeting new customers and friends while serving the communities of Duncan, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, Parksville, Comox Valley, and Campbell River. We are proud to live where recycling, composting and waste reduction is a passion and a way of life. Our family and our franchise strive to lead by example, always finding ways to promote positive environmental change. We are excited to share our enthusiasm with others.

 

We are proud supporters of local charities and we take pride in donating multiple truckloads of furniture and gently used items to various organizations every month. After we remove items from our customer’s home or office we take them to our own sorting facility in Nanaimo where we can maximize recycling opportunities. We estimate that we divert from landfills, as much as 70-80% of what we collect. We recycle all wood, glass, plastic, metal, paper and green waste.

 

Every customer has their unique reason to call us and we appreciate each and every one of them letting us into their homes and their lives. We are privileged to provide a service that solves problems, frees physical space, and ultimately removes emotional obstacles.

1-800-GOT-JUNK? Bring Warmth to Game

Nanaimo Women's Resource Society

1-800-GOT-JUNK? and the Nanaimo Women’s Resources Centre (NWRC) are hoping Clippers fans will “Bring Warmth” to the December 12th, 3:00pm game against the Vernon Vipers. Clothing and money donated at the Clippers game will be given the NWRC so they can distribute them to families in need over the Christmas Season. According to Lesley Clarke, the director of the Nanaimo Women’s Resources Centre, “The holiday season can be an especially difficult time for families in Nanaimo. At the Women’s Centre we see a major increase in the number of women and children accessing our services at this time of year. We always appreciate when community members come out to help the women and families we assist.” 1-800-GOT-JUNK? will fill their blue bins with mitts, hats, jackets, scarves and socks to be delivered to Nanaimo families in need of warm clothing. Every Clippers fan who makes a donation receives one entry into the on-ice promotion between periods! Great prizes!
