Hi, we’re Matt Earnest and Joseph Kallen, General Managers for 1-800-GOT-JUNK's junk removal operations in Pittsburgh. You can find our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk trucks hauling junk from downtown Pittsburgh, Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, Ross Township, Cranberry, Wexford and many more areas!
I’m sure you’ve seen our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trash removal team marketing all around Pittsburgh. We regularly do blue wig waves at the intersection of Rt. 19 and Rt. 228 in Cranberry Twp., near the GetGo in Waterworks, and at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Allegheny River Blvd in Highland Park. We also have our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk trucks parked alongside the street so you can see us anytime. We have junk trucks parked along Rt. 8 in Etna, along Rt. 19 in Cranberry Twp., and in Squirrel Hill. Our big, blue, shiny 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk hauling trucks are a great icon for us.
We have partnered with and donate to Goodwill on a regular basis. It is amazing how one man's junk is another man's treasure. There are occasions where someone has gotten new furniture and needs to get rid of their old stuff. They hate to throw it away, and that's why they call us at 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. Our junk removal teams can't stand to see a nice couch or bookshelf end up at the landfill. There are many people out there who can't afford new furniture and rely on good natured people to donate their furniture. That is why, when we are called to haul away someone's old items, we make sure that whatever's still in good shape finds a home.
We are also very concerned about recycling computers. There are too many computers being thrown away due to the fast paced development of technology. When old computers become obsolete to one person, they may be an upgrade to another person. We regularly work with a company called Second Life Computer that is dedicated to the refurbishing and redistribution of electronic waste. They make sure that there are less expensive alternatives to new computers for those who cannot afford one. Knowing that illegal dumping is a problem, we feel that if we are out there with an affordable and helpful alternative to doing it yourself there will be less junk ending up in the wrong places.
Our Pittsburgh franchise is an affiliate member of the Realtor's Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh (R.A.M.P.) and a member of ACRE Pittsburgh. He also has affiliations that include the International Council of Shopping Centers (I.C.S.C.) the Strongland Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Industrial and Office Professionals (N.A.I.O.P.).
Our office is located along Allegheny River Blvd in Oakmont, PA. We are along the "upper boulevard" and are located directly between Lucy's Shoes and the Mystery Lover's Bookstore. It is near the corner of Allegheny River Blvd and Delaware Ave on the same block as the Hallmark and Citizen's Bank.

"Two handsome young junk haulers came by in their shiny junk truck. They were smiling and waving - it was just like watching a commercial. They were so efficient, pleasant, and knowledgeable about 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. It was a great experience. We had a LOT of stuff for them to take away: beds, furniture, clothing, trash, skis, baby furniture, appliances, and more. When the junk haulers were finished loading, they swept up the dust before driving away in their shiny junk truck. They smiled and waved the whole time."-- John and Brenda, Freedom, Feb. 2008
Read this article from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette! Pittsburgh's growing elderly population depends on services like 1-800-GOT-JUNK? to help them when moving into smaller retirement communities, or even just to clear out large amounts of junk that are just too heavy. More than half of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?'s customers in Pittsburgh are senior citizens.
On January 8, 2007 we were pictured in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. We were volunteering one of our junk trucks to help the Marine Corps move their Toys For Tots office from the old St. Francis Hospital to the South Hills Industrial Park. This was to help prepare a site for the new Pittsburgh Penguins arena.
Watch a video clip from WTAE-TV about our junk removal team's creative recycling efforts. They regularly prove that one man's trash is another man's treasure.
We were invited to participate in our very first GO Month event in January of 2008. We partnered up with NAPO Pittsburgh to hold a donation drive for gently used medical equipment. All medical equipment was donated to Global Links, a non-profit organization that donates unused medical supplies and gently used medical equipment to developing countries. The weather was cold, but many people still had warmth in their hearts as they stopped by to donate things that may have ended up being thrown away otherwise. The whole purpose for GO Month is to Get Organized. By providing people with a charitable way to get rid of this medical equipment that was collecting dust, they were able to help others, and get their space back! Those are two things that we are very passionate about.
We love Pittsburgh, and therefore have a strong sense of community pride. We have sponsored many events such as the Indiana Township Community Days fireworks display. Local teams that we support include Fox Chapel Football, North Hills Soccer, and many others.
We plan events for our employees every year. We work hard, so unwinding and relaxing properly is crucial to recharging one's batteries. This year, we're going to get everyone together, toss on our black & gold, and head down to PNC Park to watch a Pittsburgh Pirates game. We might be caught wearing some bright blue wigs as well! This summer, to make sure we don't overheat, we're going to Springdale to enjoy some treats from Glen's Custard and take on a round of mini golf. We also have our annual holiday party to look forward to, which is held each year at Dave & Buster's in the Waterfront.
