Luc and I have been operating our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? business in Ottawa since July 2000. We have seen a lot of junk and have met a lot of wonderful people. We have dedicated our lives to training the right people in our business to help you, the customer, do what is right by recycling and donating everything that we can and minimizing what we have to take to the landfill. We abide by all environmental laws and standards, from our local municipal requirements (City of Ottawa) to the laws enforced by the provincial (Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of the Environment), Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration (CVOR), and federal government and agencies (Environment Canada).
Our business covers all areas in Ottawa and Gatineau and some outlining areas. You'll find our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks servicing your neighbouhood from the heart of downtown Ottawa to Kanata, Orleans, Gloucester, Stittsville, the Glebe, Carp, Russell and everywhere in between!
In case you don't know our story, we uprooted our family in 2000 from Timmins to start this business. You may know that Timmins is the home of Shania Twain, and yes we knew of her (we're the same age) but we didn't know her personally. At that time, our children were 6 and 3 . The move was a very positive and fruitful one for our family.
We've also done numerous clean-up projects for HGTV's Room to Grow and Me, My House and I. From a national perspective, you may have seen 1-800-GOT-JUNK? on the popular A&E program, Hoarders.
Oh, and did we mention we are huge Ottawa Senators fans! We support our team by purchasing tickets, attending games and financially contributing to Rogers House and the Ottawa Senators Foundation.
Since starting our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise, we have been strong supporters of the community: from our partnership with the City of Ottawa in the annual Spring Cleaning the Capital and Fall Cleaning the Capital clean-up campaigns, through the countless donations we make to Habitat for Humanity, Shepherds of Good Hope, St. Joe's Women Centre, the Salvation Army, and the Boy Scouts of Canada, Helping with Furniture, and countless other organizations. We truly believe in giving back. So much so, that we host annual events for charity including Yard Sale for the Cure and EWaste Collection Day.
We are members of the Greater Ottawa Chamber of Commerce, and a long-time member of the Better Business Bureau.
I, Pierrette, am the past-president (2006) of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, Ottawa chapter and I am honoured to say that I was a recipient of the prestigious 40 Under Forty Award, presented by the Ottawa Business Journal, in 2006.

Every year, the City of Ottawa launches its annual Spring & Fall Cleaning the Capital Campaigns. For more than seven years, Ottawa's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise has partnered with these cleanup campaigns to do junk pickups. We pick up local trash and junk from Ottawa's parks and streets. Getting Our Kids to Remove Junk
Two 13 year old boys spent the day "on the job" as part of a "Take Your Child to Work Day". This meant our crew had two extra junk removers. Joshua, the franchise owners' son, and his friend Alexander, spent the day sweeping floors, picking up and loading junk and household garbage, and doing door-hangers. They finished the day with a wave alongside six junk pickup trucks.
Junk Removers Support Ottawa Senators
Sens crazy! The Ottawa Senators, our local NHL team, were heading into the playoffs. To show our pride for our team and the spirit we had heading into the playoffs, you could find our junk removal teams doing 'waves' in many high-traffic areas. This included places like Palladium Drive and Bank Street in downtown Ottawa. We were wearing our Ottawa Senators jerseys, waving flags and encouraging team spirit. At the same time, we were advertising our junk pickup services. These were really fun times and involved our junk hauling staff and family members.
