Junk Removal - Louisville

Junk Hauler, Robert Burns

Robert Burns

Address:
3932 Shelbyville Road, #201
Louisville, KY
40207

Hi, I'm Robert Burns, the owner and operator of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?'s junk removal services in Louisville Metro since 2002. I'm sure you've seen one of our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks moving up and down the Shelbyville Road, Westport Road, Hurstbourne Lane, Taylorsville Road and Bardstown Road corridors. If you see our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? Honda Element zooming along, that's me, be sure to give me a wave.

I was the 23rd 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise. Today, there are over 300! Prior to starting my junk removal franchise, I spent 11 years as an executive with the Lincoln Heritage Council, Boy Scouts of America. I am an Eagle Scout and Scouting has always been important to me. When faced with the decision to be promoted and transfer out of Louisville, I opted to leave my Scouting career and set out on my own. My family and I had no desire to leave the city we love! We reside in the Highlands, attend St. Paul United Methodist Church, and I am active in the St. Matthews Rotary Club.

Since the early days of running my junk hauling business out of my basement with one 1-800-GOT-JUNK? truck and one employee, we have steadily grown to a fleet of five junk trucks and a junk hauling crew of twelve during the summer. I am proud of our staff of junk removers and hire a number of exceptional student employees from the University of Louisville, Bellarmine, JCC and IUS.

In the last six years we have completed over 6,000 junk removal jobs and disposed of over 4,000 tons of junk! We have also recycled a lot along the way. In 2006, we were recognized by Goodwill of Kentucky for donating $20,000 worth of salvageable items to their thrift stores and whenever we do that, we return the donation receipt to our customer. We also work closely with a number of metal recyclers and an e-waste recycler to make sure all of your computers and electronics are properly disposed of.

Our office is located at 3932 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40207 in the heart of St. Matthews. We're near the intersection of Shelbyville Road and Breckenridge Lane, directly across the street from the Bluegrass Brewing Company.

Customer Reviews

“I wanted to take a minute and let you know what a great job your junk removal crew did for me last week. Both of them were very friendly to everyone they had contact with. Beyond that, they continued to be patient everytime someone inevitably said, 'Oh, I forgot, we need you to take that too'. The fact that they displayed a great sense of humor throughout the entire junk removal made them great to work with.”
-- Laura, Manager, Red7e, Louisville, Aug 2005
“Thank you for doing an excellent job of clearing the construction debris at the house on Hill Top Road. It was a challenge for your debris removal crew and they came through. They should be commended. We'll keep your card on file for future reference.”
-- Louis, Mayor, City of Windy Hills, Windy Hills, Jan 2008
“The junk haulers called me exactly at the appointed time to confirm when they would visit my home for the junk removal. Next, they pulled in my driveway just as they promised, then they quietly and cheerfully removed my 'junk' in the pouring rain. Very clean-cut, professional individuals. Friendly junk hauling crew, good price and hassle-free.”
-- Maryanne, St. Matthews, Mar 2006
“The two junk removers were great! I rate them a 15 out of 10! Thank you!”
-- Emma, Louisville, Apr 2007

Louisville Monsoon Cleanup

Remember the monsoon rains that hit the Louisville area in late September 2006? We do! We did clean outs of dozens of flooded basements, garages, sheds, and carports. There's nothing like hauling wet carpet and soaked, soggy boxes of junk. We're here to help!

SBA Helps Start 1-800-GOT-JUNK?

Robert Burns couldn't have started his 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal business in Louisville without the help of the Small Business Administration (SBA). His success with the SBA was picked up and featured in a college textbook, Small Business Management, an Entrepreneurial Emphasis. Pretty cool!

1-800-GOT-JUNK? Participates In Kentucky Derby Fes

In 2003, we participated in our first Kentucky Derby Festival event, Bedlam in the Streets. Being a junk removal company, we felt that it was only fitting to build a bed out of junk. Over the weeks leading up to the event, we saved bicycles, a mattress, metal conduit, piping, and other junk that we picked up from our trash removals. Our junk hauling crew gathered to assemble the parts the weekend before Derby Week. Our junk bed wasn't pretty, and it wasn't very street worthy either. In fact, we didn't make it around the track! But we had a great time participating with others from the Louisville business community to support the Kentucky Derby Festival.
