Hi, we're Rich James and Greg D’Amico, and we started our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Knoxville in February of 2006. We're sure you've seen our junk hauling operation around Knoxville over the past two years. Our big blue 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks are hard to miss! On any given day, you are sure to see us on Kingston Pike or in Turkey Creek wearing our blue wigs and waving to the cars passing by.
The most common question people ask us is, “What do you do with the junk you pick up?”. As often as possible, we try to donate reusable items, such as clothes, furniture, and toys to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. We haul all the metal we receive downtown to PCS Metals. Any computers or electronics we remove are given to Scott Recycling. If you are associated with a local charity in the Knoxville area and are interested in receiving household items or clothing donations, we would love to hear from you to work out an arrangement for you to collect useful items.
We strive to be active in the community by participating in several charity events around the Knoxville area. Most recently we participated in The American Heart Association’s annual gala, The Baptist Health Foundation’s Turkey Trot, The Baptist Hospital’s Labor of Love tennis tournament, and The East Tennessee Junior Achievement golf tournament. We have always been active in local charities and have lived in the Knoxville area for more than 25 years.
You may recognize us from IPS Advisory, Inc., a Knoxville-based investment firm, where we owned and managed the IPS Millennium Fund. In 1999, the IPS Millennium Fund was the number one growth and income fund in America. As a result of the fund's success, we received a lot of local and national media attention. After spending 20 years running a successful investment firm, we decided to continue with our entrepreneurial spirit and start a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise in Knoxville. We are enjoying the adventure each day brings and we're looking forward to the growth of 1-800-GOT-JUNK? both nationally and locally.
Our offices are located in the Cedar Bluff area at Cross Park Plaza. We are about half mile down from the Cedar Bluff McDonalds, SunTrust and Dales Winning Edge. If you are getting off I-40, you would take Cedar Bluff Road to Executive Park Drive. At the four way stop, take a left and our building is on the left side. 9111 Cross Park Dr., E120 across the street from the Knoxville Recycle Center at Ceder Bluff.

In May of 2007 the Knoxville 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise was lucky to get the opportunity to participate in a local contest. The contest was run on WATE Channel 8 during the Oprah Winfrey Show. The winner of the contest had 1-800-GOT-JUNK? come out and clean out their garage. As it turned out, a very deserving family in a small rural town won the grand prize. It was very exciting to get to visit with the family and help them remove their junk. The best part for our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team was getting to play with the kids as they explored our big blue junk truck.
One of our most challenging and biggest jobs to date was removing an old house in Alcoa, TN. When the job was originally booked it was just described as an old shed. Once we got on-site, it was actually an old house that had been on the property for more than 60 years. I guess our customer didn't think we would come if he told us it was a house! The biggest issue for him was that it had become an unsafe area. After two very long days and four truck loads of debris, we were able to remove everything and the area was safe again. The great thing about a long job is the time we get to spend with our Truck Teams. As you can see, even when you are working hard you can always find time to have fun!
