Hi, I'm Tom Todoroff and I'm the owner operator of the Detroit area franchise of 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. We remove unwanted items from all around town, including Farmington Hills, Novi, Plymouth, Northville, Canton, Livonia, Royal Oak, Southfield and Detroit, just to name some of the areas we service. After a 30 year career in the sound and communications industry in the Detroit Metropolitan area, my brother George and I decided to diversify. Wow, did we diversify! I have adopted the junk removal and recycling business as my new career. I have enjoyed the challenge of providing great customer service in the junk removal industry - one that is not known for professionalism. I have gotten to know the Detroit communities through various community events and by joining some local associations including the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, the Farmington Hills Chamber of Commerce and the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce. While I knew going in to the junk removal business that recycling would be a part of this venture, I hadn't realized that the future of junk removal lies in recycling and diversion from landfills. We recycle metals, papers, cardboard and other items at places like SOCCRA in Royal Oak Michigan. E-waste (electronic waste) sometimes goes to Classic Computer Recovery on Ford Rd. in Garden City, MI. Batteries and lamps with mercury go to places like Battery Solutions Inc. on Michigan Ave. in Wayne, MI. It is a nice feeling to know that we are doing our part to help the environment.
At work and at home I was always somewhat of a pack-rat and now I see that I'm not alone. We remove items from homes and businesses that just take up space and keep homeowners from enjoying the space they have and businesses from being as productive as possible. Our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? team of junk removers can be seen around town in our shiny blue junk hauling trucks or even at a busy intersection wearing blue wigs and waving to potential customers.
The Detroit franchise is located in Farmington Hills, MI. We are west of Orchard Lake Rd., east of Farmington Rd., south of Twelve(12) Mile Rd., north of I-696 freeway. We are one mile north of the Orchard Ridge Campus of Oakland Community College (OCC) and five miles east of Twelve Oaks Mall. For easy access, we are four miles east of the I-275, I-96, I-696, M-5 interchange.

Hi, we are Tim and Deb Jones and we opened our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal service in Macomb County and the Grosse Pointe communities in September 2006. After successful careers in the advertising agency business, we wanted to start an entrepreneurial venture. When 1-800-GOT-JUNK? was profiled in the New York Times Small Business section in May 2006 we were intrigued. We researched 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and the more we learned about the company, culture and business model, we knew we found the right business. You may have seen our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? trucks parked in Sterling Heights at Henriksen Golf Range on Van Dyke (also our office location) or at the BP Station on Vernier Road and I-94. We make frequent appearances, waving and wearing our blue wigs, along Hall Road in Sterling Heights, Shelby and Utica. If you live in any of the Grosse Pointe communities, you'll see our ads on grocery carts at Kroger stores. Those of you frequenting the new MJR Cinemas at Partridge Creek will be able to view our in-theater ad on the big screen! The best part of junk hauling is donating all the usable items we pick up. All donations are either new or gently-used items. We take clothing and toys to the Salvation Army, and home and office furniture, appliances, kitchen wares, light fixtures and rugs to Habitat for Humanity. We also donate all the old cell phones we pick up, then they're refurbished and used by local women's shelters. We are proud of our affiliation with COTS (Coalition on Temporary Shelter) in Detroit. Our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise is donating the trucks and time necessary to pickup all donations for the COTS Clean Sweep.
Recycling is a priority for our franchise. Old appliances, electrical cords, motors, metal, paper, books, cardboard and batteries are recycled (www.go-glr.com). The donating and recycling we do is very important. It's a tremendous opportunity for others to benefit from having these items available to them.
Our office is located on Van Dyke Avenue half a mile south of Hall Road at Henriksen's Golf Range.

Hi, my name is Bill Schaugg, and along with my partner, we recently purchased the Oakland County 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise. We help residential and commercial clients get rid of their junk in Troy, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Franklin, Beverly Hills, and Rochester, among others.
What interested us the most about this junk hauling company is their commitment to people. Owning a 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchise is serious business and it has enabled us to have a positive impact on our local Oakland County communities. Not only do we help residential and commercial customers by removing their unwanted junk and giving them their space back, but we are able to donate to local charities such as the Salvation Army. We also recycle paper, plastic, metal, and take e-waste to facilities that safely dispose of it. Most importantly, on a daily basis we are reducing the amount of junk that goes into the landfills.
I have recently joined the Birmingham chapter of LBN (Local Business Network), and the Birmingham/Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce, and have met numerous small business owners who are valuable partners and support.
Our Oakland County rubbish removal franchise loves to get involved in community activities such as Earth Day, and our trucks are visible in some of the festivals and parades that occur during the year, such as the ‘Renaissance Festival’ in Holly during August/September, the ‘Arts, Beats, and Eats Festival’ in Pontiac over the Labor Day weekend, and the ‘Rochester Christmas Parade.’

“When I called 1-800-GOT-JUNK? the service I received was so much better than I expected. I needed some furniture and old appliances removed from my basement. They came the very same day and all I had to do was sit back and watch them do their thing. Fast, friendly, and efficient. They informed me that the furniture would be donated to someone who could use it and that the appliances would be recycled. I will not hesitate to use you again and I have already told all my friends about the service.”-- Ellie, Commerce Twp., Detroit, Feb 2008
“What a service. We needed to move out of our existing location by the end of the week, so we scheduled a junk removal company for Thursday. Thursday came and went and no one showed up. We called the company and there was no answer. We had to be out by the end of business Friday. One of our employees mentioned that he had seen some junk removal guys in blue wigs at Michigan Ave. and Telegraph Rd. and thought the name was 1-800-GOT-JUNK?. We called Friday morning and you know the rest! Not only did you provide same day service, your employees did it professionally and with a smile. We were looking at losing our rental deposit and you saved the day. Let me assure you that you have tremendous employees and you provide a great service. Thank you.”-- George, President, C.S.D., Inc, Dearborn, Nov 2007
“Knock your socks off' customer service is the only way to describe the folks who took care of me yesterday. I've been serving the public for 23 years and I've seen the worst, from retailing to contracting, and I just don't expect this kind of service. Kind, professional, friendly, quick, and they pointed out a few items I had forgotten. I couldn't afford a full truck, so we worked on the items that I knew my city would not pick up. Please, please give the team a raise and treat them well. They are gems - you don't see this kind of professionalism in the service industry anymore. I have about 40 1-800-GOT-JUNK? magnets and I'm passing them out to everyone I know. Keep up the outstanding service!”-- Linnea, Ferndale, Aug 2007

Read about how 1-800-GOT-JUNK? became one of the fastest-growing franchises in America, by hauling garbage that others won't. Jeff Lazar, who launched a junk removal franchise in Detroit, says, "I'm pretty geeked out about it." We specialize in hauling junk like old clothing, furniture, and even appliance pickups like dishwashers and exercise equipment.
When the Detroit Pistons were cleaning up the NBA, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? was hauling garbage after the celebration. We can declutter homes and do commercial property cleanouts as well, by the way!

Last April we donated to the March of Dimes (Michigan Chapter) and participated in the walk at Metro Beach. You couldn't miss all 15 of us in our bright blue 1-800-GOT-JUNK? shirts and blue wigs!
The communities we serve, like Farmington Hills, Grosse Pointe, and Macomb Township, are full of families that like to spend quality time together at events like The Farmington Area Founders Festival and the world famous Plymouth Ice Festival. Our junk removers participate by helping with garbage removal after these types of events to make it easier for communities to continue to provide for their residents. Community involvement and recycling are just some of the ways that Detroit's 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal services can help to improve the communities in which we work and live.
1-800-GOT-JUNK? loves to help people and businesses solve their junk removal and recycling problems. Our biggest challenge is to get the word out about our junk hauling services. It was a great pleasure for our junk disposal services to be featured on Adam Helfman's Hire It Done program on AM 1270 WXYT in Detroit. Adam specializes in guiding people to the home improvement solution that is right for them. Not only was it a great opportunity to let people know about our junk hauling service, but it was a chance to help people find solutions to things like prepping their homes for sale or their remodeling efforts. We can help you with your garage cleanouts and remove clutter from your home!
We had a blast in the Clarkston Labor Day Parade. We had our junk removers, friends and our kids in blue wigs passing out 1-800-GOT-JUNK? balloons, toy junk trucks and mints!

Tim and Deb Jones, Macomb County franchise partners, took their entire team of junk removers to a Detroit Tigers game for exceeding their goals!

1-800-GOT-JUNK?'s junk removal operation in Macomb County is truly one big "family business"! Siblings Tim and Deb are the franchise owners. Sisters Carol and Terri work part-time doing marketing. Another sister, Chris, works full-time as Assistant Operations Manager. Brother-in-law, Bob (Carol's husband), and nephew, Kevin (Chris' son), work weekends on the junk hauling trucks. Did you get all that?!
Our Macomb County franchise office is located at a driving range, Suites on the Green is the name outside of the building. It's a perfect space because Tim and Deb are avid golfers and the practice tees are a few steps from the office. The location also offers a great parking opportunity on Van Dyke Avenue, one of the busiest streets in Macomb County.
