Carl Schilling
Territory: Junk Removal - Albany
Address:
Hi, I'm Carl Schilling, your local franchise owner for 1-800-GOT-JUNK?'s junk removal services in Albany/Capital Region. Our main office is located just outside the city line of Troy at 828 Hoosick Street, just before the famous Dunkins' Diner where Margaret will fill your belly in the morning. We also have a second office at 165 Freeman's Bridge Road in Glenville near the Schenectady County Airport. We've been hauling junk since September 2005 and we've helped over 2,738 customers remove old furniture, used appliances, electronics waste, renovation remains, construction debris, yard waste, and much more. That's over 5,086 tons of junk that we've helped take away!
We are proud to offer our much needed 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal service to the Albany/Capital Region of New York, helping both our clients and the environment. You can see our junk removal trucks parked in the Albany/Capital Region on Rte 7 in Niskayuna, Rte 7 in Troy, and on Freeman's Bridge Rd in the Scotia/Glenville area when they're not busy hauling trash around town.
People often ask, “What happens to my junk when you take it away?” We make every effort possible to recycle or donate furniture, household items, scrap metal, and all kinds of different junk. We work with local charities such as Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Center for Disability Services, and Saint Paul's Church. We also use recycling centers in our area to reuse and recycle the junk we haul away before we take items to the landfill. We're asked a lot about electronics waste (e-waste) removal; electronic recycling now exists in many US cities and is growing quickly. These facilities either donate used computers and electronics to non-profit groups and charity organizations or see that obsolete computers, monitors, cell phones, and more are safely recycled. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? strives to work with each municipality we operate in to try and recycle electronics whenever we can. We work with metal recyclers and green waste recyclers as well. As you can see, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? provides an easy way to dispose items that clutter your space.
Most wonder what I did before I started my 1-800-GOT-JUNK? business. I always loved interacting with people and discovered the world of selling. I had a successful 20 year career in construction equipment sales. This fast-paced, dynamic selling arena definitely gave me the opportunity to interact and build relationships with many diverse people. When I decided to leave the selling arena in September 2005 to start life on a new path as a business entrepreneur, it had to be one of the most memorable decisions of my life. I was comfortable in my selling career, completely understood all of the industry processes and was selling successfully. My 1-800-GOT-JUNK? business gave me the opportunity to realize my entrepreneurial dream. A new arena in which to grow, to test my skills in building great, long-term relationships, understanding what our clients needed and what my business would need was fueling the passion to be an entrepreneur. This junk removal business gives me the opportunity to strategize and implement processes that make our junk hauling operations run smooth and our customer service shine, resulting in repeat business and growth, all while doing our part to help the environment. We also value the synergy of relationships that we build with our clients, our recycling partners and our employees. We believe in working with the community. I am a volunteer firefighter with the East Greenbush Volunteer Fire Company with 20 years of service and a Board Member of Entrepreneurs.org. Our company is affiliated with The Rensselaer Chamber of Commerce and The Schenectady Chamber of Commerce.
Junk pick-up:
"I have to say the service and professionalism of Carl and his team of helpers from 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal was fantastic! I was particularly impressed with their clean up of the area after they took everything out. I also like that I only had to pay for the volume of space in the junk truck that my trash occupied. Getting rid of junk is often a task that is put off for ages and this junk hauling service makes it so easy."-- Dawn, Clifton Park, Oct. 2005
"We were very pleased. The trash removal team were great! They were very helpful, quick and neat. They were polite and did an excellent job."-- Mr. Browne, Guilderland, Jan. 2008
"Great! The rubbish removal crew was there early and did what I needed them to do. I am a realtor and will definitely use 1-800-GOT-JUNK? again."-- Jill, Albany, Aug. 2006
"I placed the call at about 11:00am, got a call from the local franchise in Troy at about noon, and the junk removal crew was at the house the same afternoon at about 1:30pm. Mike, the driver, came downstairs to the cellar to assess the amount of junk needing to be removed, explained how they would proceed, then asked if I wanted it done. At my positive response, he and his partner started with the freezer, which required that the door to the laundry room be removed, which they did. In short order all three appliances were in the junk truck, and the door was replaced without my having to ask. I added a set of old wooden folding chairs and an empty oil drum, and the total still came to a lot less than the estimated quote. I happily paid with a credit card, and they were on their way, about three and half hours from start to finish. That evening, we got a call from the company asking if our experience was satisfactory, which it was."-- Connie, Scotia, Oct. 2007

February is an ideal time for spring cleaning. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? provides some great spring cleaning tips in the Times Union! Remove dead tree limbs and stumps from your yard, as this debris can provide food and harborage for pests (e.g. termites). Declutter your home as much as you can. On November 6, 2006 our 1-800-GOT-JUNK? junk removal team participated in the 5K Turkey Trot Run benefitting the Race For The Cure. The day gave us a great opportunity to become stronger as a team while participating in an important charity event. The best outcome was that my son (pictured front) and I had a bet on who would win the race. My son stated he would beat me by ten minutes. In the end, he beat me in the race by only 45 seconds. With him being young, it is great to know I can actually keep up with this little guy!
